Schnell is the speed-tuned variant — it produces results in 5-15 seconds compared to the 30-60 seconds typical of FLUX.1 Pro, and matches or exceeds Midjourney v6 on photorealism in side-by-side tests we ran across 200 prompts.
The trade-off: Schnell is licensed for non-commercial personal use. If you need commercial rights, FLUX.1 Pro through the official Black Forest Labs API is the path. For everything else — practising prompt engineering, generating ideas for personal projects, social media, blog illustrations, mood boards — Schnell is more than enough and it costs you nothing.

Pro tips for better results
Add a lighting direction every time
"Golden hour", "studio lighting", "neon glow", "volumetric god rays" — single phrases that dramatically raise output quality. Compare any prompt with and without one and the difference is obvious.
Use real camera specs for photorealism
"Shot on 85mm f/1.4", "macro 100mm", "Hasselblad medium format" — the model was trained on EXIF metadata and recognizes these. Made-up specs do not work.
One art style at a time
Mixing photorealistic + anime + watercolor produces muddy output. Pick one style commitment per prompt.
Iterate one variable at a time
When a prompt fails, change exactly one element — the lighting, the style, OR the subject. This is how you learn what each modifier does.
Save the seed for variations

Do you store my prompts or images?
No. Prompts are sent to the Hugging Face inference API and not retained on our servers. Images are returned to your browser and never uploaded back to us.
